Quilting Lessons

This baby quilt is an adaptation of a pattern called "Hugs and Kisses" (available at http://www.quiltpox.com/patterns/Hugs/) with the addition of some appliquéd butterflies. I call it "Butterfly Kisses and Hugs."

This is the quilt that made me realize that it wasn't enough to have consistent seam allowances. They also needed to be an accurate scant quarter inch, because each row of the block had a different number of seams. The pink squares measure 1 1/2 inches, finished.

This is a quilt I designed for the sister of a friend. She races cars in Alaska.

First is a picture of Pioneer Peak Mountain. The racetrack runs in the direction where it looks like it runs right into the mountain. This picture is the one I used to kind of design my quilt.

On the upper area of the quilt is Pioneer Peak (my version), with the racetrack at the bottom with the "Christmas tree" lights that start the race in the center. Her racing group name is "Spitfire Racing" which is appliqued across the bottom with Alaska in the center. The quilt is approximately 60" x 72" finished.

and the bottom. The back has animals, mostly Alaskan.
